By human determination, the effort and desire exists to make our own dreams come true before leaving this world. That is how the mission of our soul is revealed to us, to seal our path and emerge as spirits, energy; a circle of love and unification within ourselves.

In different times and places, three different people come together to mature, grow and finish things that have been forgotten…to realize that each must follow their own path at their own pace.

CIRCULOS begins when Antonio decides to make one of his dreams come true…to take his mother on an unforgettable journey, hence, reflecting their unique union, the one of a mother and son; and at the same time baptizing another son. This is how in this vacation (journey), Araceli seals missing moments in her life.

CIRCULOS tells Araceli’s story. A woman entering into her son’s intimate life, without knowing he is homosexual and that he lives with his best friend and lover Daniel. With the subtlety of hidden knowledge which all three characters share, we see the true encounter of love vs. love, as these three energies unite in two different ways and visions.

CIRCULOS reflects the hard time Antonio and Daniel have to go through while trying to deal with issues in their relationship, and receiving Araceli in their lives. In that personal world they both share which cannot be exposed, we can feel dimensions of a world that can be lived in, but not seen; especially through their closest friends who helps us feel what their true problems may be.

CIRCULOS opens an uncontrollable dimension of sparks, called feelings. Feeling that will bring light and reach any human being and reveal that probably the most beautiful and unique love in this world is the love of a Mother. While we may spend our time wondering who our true love is, our true soul mate, we let time fly by us taking for granted that we already have it…we’ve had it since we were born. Araceli represents this love.

ARACELI, a mother who is outdated about her son’s life, enters a homosexual world in which, “el regalon”, the little one is the center. She enters this life, which she feels she ought to understand even if it means bringing out every drop of strength that she has left. Mother and son, both consciously and unconsciously, are able to encounter these feelings; they reach an almost unexplainable level of peace. But still, Antonio feels that his mother is not prepared to understand certain routines of his daily life, and therefore, tries to modify them in post of Araceli’s arrival, but it is him who is not yet prepared to enter his mother’s spiritual world.

CIRCULOS is the special relationship between Antonio and Araceli. A relationship marked by Araceli’s youthful spirit and Antonio’s sensibility. Being homosexual, Antonio possesses an authentic sensibility. He understands that his mother is present and “knows-but-doesn’t-know” and yet he doesn’t realize that with her, everything is fine and she accepts it. Antonio feels he has enough time to share with his mother but at the same time he courts Daniel whom will not completely give into Antonio because of his great confusion about his lifestyle. Daniel being extremely sensitive, states non-acceptance and determination to convince himself that he “still likes women”, and does not understand Antonio’s “mother-son” relationship. He remains distant from them at the beginning, considering Antonio only as his lover and not foreseeing that he will end up deeply in love with Araceli. Through this, we also see the heterosexual man’s (Daniel) sensibility and how different it is from a homosexual’s. If Daniel had to decide between his mother and saving a lover’s relationship, his priority would probably be the latter…HIS LOVE FOR ANTONIO, that is, until he lets his heart be opened by Araceli to finally understands how Antonio feels.

Daniel struggles as he feels he is the one breaking up this powerful trio, he hesitates from this trio that was formed by Araceli’s innocence as she’s trying to complete her mission and close her last circle. But not only Daniel is guilty of this problem. Antonio also suffers from painful feelings, and he tries to hide his trauma of not accepting himself as a homosexual in a strict and conservative society with such traditional values. He is reminded of this internal issue when Araceli arrives, when he thought he had overcome them. This is why Antonio unconsciously decides to play girlfriend-boyfriend games with his mother. He asks her to marry him, which besides being a symbolic act; this also becomes the means which Antonio uses to distract his mother from his preferences towards who he thinks she wants to see him with.

This psychological game between these two characters can relate to any human situation. Antonio and Daniel carry a homosexual lifestyle in a very subtle way, and they retouch and reshape their daily routine, as well as their sexuality. Hence homosexuality becomes something natural, normal, being part of their background, and the power of the love between Daniel and Antonio becomes the main element in completing the union of love between Antonio and Araceli. Araceli appears to not be aware of anything with captivating simplicity. But she has lived a long life and has nothing to discover. She only feels that she has to see Antonio and bring him some light, a spark, so that he feels tranquil. With powerful energy she communicates to us and let’s us know when the right time arrives to learn, to leave, to open and finally to close a new circle. This is how we are capable of intuitively recognize when something is calling us, when something which requires our presence tells us when we are ready to enter a new path, a new circle, even if this circle lends us to our death.

Araceli appears so that we can understand this process somewhat better. She tells how we need to learn to close circles in our lives, and that we will know when the time comes to close a circle. We realize that in each new circle we open, we have advanced in our learning so that with each circle that we close, at the right time, we start to feel complete. That is why traveling with her was so enriching; discovering things, places, and cultures…element of those who left their homes in search of new horizons and never returned. The colors of these places are the colors of Araceli. Her moments have put together an entire existence; love and disappointments, color, dialects, accents that definitely represent any human being who intends to comply with their own requisites and a purpose to convince himself that he has come through this world. In CIRCULOS, time exists and doesn’t exist at the same time. It is possible that each country represents a recollection of moments.

Each color of Araceli’s hair could be an entire life and all of her changes could be the acceptance that she feels that she is ready to go, to leave this world. Antonio’s emotional and spiritual personality is activated when he is with his family. Suddenly Antonio becomes almost real. There is something in his past that brings him down from the level he rises to when he touches his mother. There is a hint of fear. There is a crack that has been open for a long time. There is emotion and pain. There is in any case, a fantastic story; a story of happiness in a world full of unhappiness.

To reach deeply into that love; the love of our mother earth; the love of our own MOTHER

Like Borges said: “Death is a life lived, life is death coming”.
